The North Penn School District (NPSD) Board of School Directors are pleased to share that they recently appointed Tysean Gross and Megan Schoppe as assistant principals of North Penn High School (NPHS).

Gross and Schoppe will fill vacancies left earlier this year by former principals Matt Edwards, now principal of Gwyn-Nor Elementary School, and the late Mary Scott.

Tysean Gross is currently employed by the School District of Philadelphia where he has held leadership positions since 2015. After serving one year as Special Education Compliance Manager, Gross transitioned to his current position as the School Climate Manager. In this role, his key responsibilities are to supervise and coordinate all the climate, behavioral and disciplinary programs and services to ensure that students receive the full complement of prevention and intervention measures prior to disciplinary action being taken.

Prior to his administrative background, Gross taught English in grades nine through 12 at Richard Allen Preparatory Charter High School and Imhotep Institute Charter High School. He earned his Bachelors of Science in Secondary Education: English from Lincoln University, his Master of Education in Special Education from Eastern University, and most recently his Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Cabrini University.

“I cannot express how thrilled I am to be joining the North Penn High School community,” said Gross. “I look forward to working alongside the school team supporting the staff, students, parents and community.”

Megan Schoppe is no stranger to North Penn as she has been with the district in various capacities since 1996. She began as a special education teacher at Pennfield Middle School where she taught for nine years. In 2005, Schoppe moved to NPHS as the Special Education Department Chair until August of 2020. During that time, she served as a Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA), filling in briefly as an assistant principal at NPHS. Her work as a TOSA continued last August when she assumed the role which she is currently serving as interim districtwide Special Education Supervisor.

Schoppe earned her Bachelor of Science in Special Education K-12 from Bloomsburg University and her Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Gratz College. She recently earned Principal’s Certification from Delaware Valley College this past December.

NPSD looks forward to welcoming Tysean Gross and Megan Schoppe to the North Penn family this summer.
